Participation in the study was voluntary, by previous signature or digital impression of the Term of Free and Clarified Consent, after patients had been informed about the objectives of the study and the procedures towhich theywould be submitted. The study did not involve high risk procedures for the individuals. The institution was notified of cases of elderly patients classified as severely ill, so that the necessary procedures and referrals would be performed. Results The sample was characterized as individuals with or without central obesity. Thus, out of the 159 of the elderly assessed, central obesitywas present in 43.2%of men and 56.8% of women (p = 0.002), with a higher prevalence among black patients (56.8%), uneducated/incomplete middle school (90.4%), retired (87.9%) andwith excessive weight (51.2%) (p < 0.001) (Table 1).
