IVRT: isovolumic relaxation time; DT: deceleration time; E/A ratio: ratio of the E-wave and A-wave of the left ventricular diastolic filling, LA: left atrial; LVESV: left ventricular end-systolic volume; LVEDV: left ventricular end-diastolic volume; LVEF: left ventricular ejection fraction; IMT: intima-media thickness; MESA: Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis; ELSA: Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health; SBP: systolic blood pressure; DBP: diastolic blood pressure; MBP: mean blood pressure; PP: pulse pressure. AIx @75: Augmentation Index adjusted for a heart rate of 75 beats per minute; PWV: pulse wave velocity. Conclusion Our study shows that psoriatic patients have elevations in carotid IMT and PWV, in addition to increased central and peripheral blood pressure, and serum cholesterol and C-reactive protein levels. Limitations One possible limitation of this study is the small sample size, due to the difficulty in recruiting patients with moderate and severe psoriasis (PASI>7), not using corticosteroids, which could affect the outcome measures. Another possible limitation is the recruitment of patients from one location only.
